I have worked with Julie for the past 5 years in the development of my company’s website. It was a complicated and comprehensive design with many elements requiring much organization and attention to detail. At every stage from the initial planning to the eventual upgrade to a mobile platform I found Julie to be professional, patient and knowledgeable. She was always willing to take the time to make sure that I understood the process. She was very flexible in her approach and was always helpful in her ability to explain the complexities and choices as we went along. Great follow up training too!

I worked with Julie Hopkins between 2003-2004 at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Julie oversaw the web development of the CBC Atlantic regional web sites. At that time, web development was in it’s infancy at the CBC and there was not a clear work flow to get content to the web. Julie worked with stake holders to develop work flow processes to deliver content and web development requests in a timely fashion. I came on to assist Julie in web development. She showed me how to develop efficiently with the tools available. She took the time to answer all my questions and mentored me on a daily basis. Through this process I became a better web developer.

The website for the literacy council of South Simcoe presented a number of challenges. We wanted to publish a broad range of material in a manner that would be accessible to those with limited literacy skills. The result was a clean, user friendly and engaging website. WordPress was also setup to allow us to modify the website ourselves. Julie was always professional in her interactions with us, and responded to all our concerns in a timely fashion. When we attend conferences for sister organizations, we receive positive feedback on our website.

I had the pleasure of working with Julie when I was working as a Web Specialist at the Canadian Council of Learning in Ottawa. While most of the work we did together was remote, it’s a testament to her exceptionally strong communication skills that it did not hinder our work in any way: Julie’s clarity when presenting ideas, her forthright nature and her creativity shone through. Countless times she proved that she was a team player who was also comfortable taking leadership when the situation demanded it. She’s also very strong technically, always ready to do research to troubleshoot problems and to keep on top of current tech trends. I highly recommend Julie as a creative, versatile and hard-working professional.

I had the pleasure of working with Julie while I was employed as a research coordinator at the Atlantic Health Promotion Research Centre. Julie was instrumental in the design and development of many of our project outputs including a variety of printed educational materials and a project website. Julie also assisted the team in developing a logo to brand our initiative and this logo turned out to be very important to the overall success of our knowledge translation initiatives. I can’t say enough about how easy and enjoyable it was to work with Julie. She is professional and reliable. Her creative suggestions along the way really enhanced our final products. I have had many people comment on how easy it is to navigate our website and compliment us on how professional the website looks.

Julie and I were colleagues for several years at the the Atlantic Health Promotion Research Centre during which time she provided her expertise to help research teams develop printed, web-based, and video-based knowledge translation material. Using her combination of graphic design and project management skills she guided us in the identification of our needs and helped us to narrow down the scope of our products. In addition, she captured and presented complex information in a way that was clear and succinct, as well as attractive and flexible. Julie brought forward a variety of ideas and designs in a way that allowed a group of people, with diverse perspectives, to visualize possible output options aimed at academic, and community-based audiences. As a creative, professional, and resourceful colleague, Julie is a pleasure to work with!
